Maya Civilization

The packet was well written, covered all the important content, plus included a reference page with video selections. The questions were thought provoking and activities were good review. I plan to use Clarendon again!

Good starting point

I'm in Ontario so our curriculum expectations are different and my class is grade 4 with a lot of kids who are just learning English, so I'm not able to use a lot of these materials directly. They do, however, provided some good background and a good starting point for me to build my own lessons to suit my kids and hit the Ontario curriculum expectations. There were also some helpful links to other resource material that I was able to use. Some of the questions were thought-provoking and should be good for engaging the kids thinking. The rating system on this site only allowed a 5 star rating. For my purposes, it's not really a 5 star but It's well put together if it's appropriate for your kids.

Fun and easy way to teach

This was fun for my son and made things really easy on me to teach about the Maya Civilization and anything that helps make things easy for me and fun for my son to learn is great. Thank you for providing this great study.

Our Maya Civilization lesson plan introduces students to the Mayan Civilization and the events during its time-period in history. Many students may know very little about the Mayans, though it was one of the most advanced civilizations in history along with the Aztecs and Inca. There is an incredible amount of information available for study, and this lesson is an overview of the main characteristics of the Mayans. During this lesson, students are asked to match terms to their definitions or significance, demonstrating their understanding of lesson terms and vocabulary. Students are also asked to answer questions about Maya Civilization based on the lesson material.

At the end of the lesson, students will be able to describe and identify the Maya Civilization.
