Right to the point

This lesson is easy to follow and present. It provides opportunities throughout that allow students to be able to talk/share-out. The additional materials can be used as homework or in the classroom setting. Quite pleased!

Description

Our Main Idea – Nonfiction lesson plan teaches students strategies for identifying and expressing the main idea of a nonfiction text. During this lesson, students are asked to use the steps given during the lesson to determine the main idea and supporting details of a given nonfiction text. Students also practice filling out graphic organizers with this information and use it to summarize the text.

At the end of the lesson, students will be able to determine the main idea of a text and explain how it is supported by key details; summarize the text.
