Our Introduction to Syllables lesson plan teaches students all about syllables, including what they are and how to determine the number of syllables in a word. During this lesson, students are asked to work with a partner to practice looking at a list of words, reading them aloud, determining the number of syllables, and then sorting them into different categories based on the number of syllables. Students are also asked to read a short story and circle all of the single syllable words, demonstrating their understanding of the lesson material.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to define syllable and identify the number of syllables in grade-appropriate words.
