Description
Our Debating lesson plan prepares students to describe the debate process, follow rules of debate, participate in a debate, and assess debate performances. During this lesson, students are asked to work collaboratively with another student on an assignment in which they choose a topic, research different sides, and then debate it, bringing them through each step of preparing and participating in a debate and strengthening their public speaking skills. Students are also asked to answer true or false questions about debates.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to describe the debate process, follow rules of a debate, participate in a debate, and assess debate performances. The students will also be able to write an opinion piece to use as a starting point for a future debate.
