Description
Our Central Idea – Nonfiction lesson plan teaches students how to identify the central idea in nonfiction text. During this lesson, students are asked to practice summarizing text by determining the central idea and supporting details in each, demonstrating their understanding of how to recognize the central idea of a text. Students are also asked to read given passages and answer questions about them that help them determine the central idea of that text.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to state the central idea of a text and how it is conveyed through particular details and provide a summary of the text distinct from personal opinions or judgments.
