Our Using Words and Phrases lesson plan teaches students how to use certain words and phrases effectively in their writing. During this lesson, students are asked to work with a partner to cut apart example words and phrases, Fold them, and place them in a container; they then take turns choosing words or phrases and saying something to their partner using the word or phrase they picked from the container. Students are also asked to read sentences and fill in the blanks with the best word or phrase, demonstrating their ability to choose appropriate words or phrases in their writing.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to use words and phrases acquired through conversations, reading and being read to, and responding to texts, including using frequently occurring conjunctions to signal simple relationships.
