Description
Our Using Quotations lesson plan introduces students to the benefits of using quotations in their writing and offers suggestions on how to choose the right quotation. The lesson introduction suggests teachers make a chart along with students answering the questions, what are quotations‚ why use quotations, and how should you use quotations. Students then receive an opportunity to choose a quote and explain its importance to them, as well as try to incorporate a quote into a writing sample of their own. During the lesson, students are asked to match topics or themes to the quotation that best matches it.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to identify the purpose for using quotations in their writing and identify how to mark quotations in text and cite the source.
