Our Using Facts, Concrete Details, etc. Lesson Plan lesson plan teaches students about the importance of using facts, details, quotations, graphics, citations, and more in their writing. During this lesson, students are asked to read an example essay and use a highlighter and highlight the areas where Terrell needs to add quotations, citations, and graphics, demonstrating their ability to identify when those elements need to be included. Students are also asked to match lesson vocabulary with their definitions.

At the end of the lesson, students will be able to explain that expository texts include informative and explanatory texts, that expository texts examine and convey complex ideas clearly and accurately using relevant facts to support the thesis of the text, and why and when to document text with appropriate citations and quotes.
