Our Topic Introductions lesson plan guides students to write an effective introduction to an essay, opinion piece, or other types of writing. The lesson provides a list of tips for what should be included in a topic paragraph and offers a sample opening paragraph broken down into parts. During this lesson, students are asked to work collaboratively with a partner to choose topics and write introductions to each topic. Students are also asked to answer multiple choice questions about the lesson information, demonstrating their understanding of the material.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to write an introductory paragraph introducing and developing a topic with facts, definitions, details, quotations, or other relevant information.
