Our Sentence-Level Context Clues lesson plan teaches students about sentence-level context and how to use it to determine the meaning of a word. During this lesson, students are asked to work with a partner to cut apart given words, place them in a container, and take turns choosing the words; when they choose a word, they look it up in a dictionary, then use it in a sentence but include context clues to help your partner learn the meaning of the word. Their partner will use context clues to define the word. Students are also asked to match the underlined words in given sentences with their definitions using context clues.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to use sentence-level context as a clue to the meaning of a word or phrase and use it to define the meaning of the word or phrase
