Description
Our Poems, Drama, Prose Terms lesson plan introduces students to the major terms relating to poems, drama, and prose. Students should become aware of the terms not only when reading the text types, but it will help when they must write their own poem, drama, or prose. During this lesson, students are asked to work collaboratively to complete short, specific writing assignments based on the lesson, utilizing their creative writing skills. Students are also asked to match terms to their definitions, demonstrating their understanding and mastery of the lesson vocabulary.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to refer to parts of stories, dramas, and poems when writing or speaking about a text, using terms such as chapter, scene, and stanza; describe how each successive part builds on earlier sections.
