What our Alphabet: Letter N lesson plan includes

Lesson Objectives and Overview: Alphabet: Letter N teaches young learners about the fourteenth letter of the alphabet. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to recognize the uppercase and lowercase letter N and name at least two words that begin with N. This lesson is for students in preschool.

LETTER N NEST ACTIVITY

For the activity, students will create a nest that has to do with the letter N. Demonstrate how to glue pieces of paper and yarn on the paper to make a nest. Help students glue their pieces as needed. When the nests are almost complete, say, “After our nest is complete, we are going to fill it with the letter N.” Demonstrate how to stamp a letter on the paper or put on N stickers. Provide students with foam letter Ns or an N stamp and an ink pad. Have students fill the nest by stamping the letter N or using foam letters. Let dry and display in class.

Options and Extensions

There are a couple additional options you could add to the lesson. For an N-friendly sensory activity, add dry noodles to a bin with measuring cups and bowls. Make an N building station. Set out dry noodles and/or other craft supplies—such as pipe cleaners, construction paper cut into large strips, and Q-tips—and have students build the letter N with various materials.
