What our Alphabet: Letter I lesson plan includes

Lesson Objectives and Overview: Alphabet: Letter I teaches young learners about the ninth letter of the alphabet. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to recognize the uppercase and lowercase letter I and name at least two words that begin with I. This lesson is for students in preschool.

LETTER I INSECT ACTIVITY

For the activity, tell students they will create their own insects using the outline of a lowercase i. Pass out the supplies and help students draw or glue on items to create their insect. Allow them to show their insect and explain how they created it. Display the artworks in the classroom.

Options and Extensions

There are lots of additional options you could add to the lesson. Fill a sensory bin with plastic insects and nets. Try taking students on an insect hunt outside. Give them magnifying glasses to carefully observe the different bugs. Build a pretend igloo fort using chairs and white blankets.
