Description
What our Alphabet: Letter G lesson plan includes
Lesson Objectives and Overview: Alphabet: Letter G teaches young learners about the seventh letter of the alphabet. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to recognize the uppercase and lowercase letter G and name at least two words that begin with G. This lesson is for students in preschool.
GLITTER LETTER G ACTIVITY
For the activity, students will make glitter art. Pass out glitter and glue. Place paper in a shallow tray or a box lid to contain the glitter. Demonstrate how to use the right amount of glitter and glue. Students can decorate their letter G with glitter. Let dry and display.
Options and Extensions
There are lots of additional options you could add to the lesson. Bring in G-inspired foods for a snack: grapes, goldfish, granola, or something green. Make Goo (see recipe on the classroom procedure page). Read the book I Stink by Kate McMullan, or Trashy Town by Andreas Zimmerman and David Clemesha. Listen to “The Garbage Truck Song” and provide garbage trucks for the students to play with after reading and listening to the song.
As an extension to the lesson, read I Stink by Kate McMullan, Goodnight, Gorilla by Peggy Rathman, Goodnight, Moon by Margaret Wise Brown, Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss, Go, Dog, Go! by P. D. Eastman, and The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson.
ADDITIONAL RESOURCES
Our preschool lessons include additional resources that you can use throughout the lesson. They are provided to give you as much content as possible to complete the lesson without having to find sources on their own. For instance, if the lesson requires you to show students pictures, you can use the ones in the additional resources.
Preschool Philosophy
Our preschool curriculum is thoughtfully designed by professional teachers to nurture curiosity, build foundational skills, and prepare young learners for kindergarten and beyond. Each preschool lesson plan offers age-appropriate activities to promote early literacy, math readiness, creativity, and social-emotional growth.
At the preschool level, children are developing rapidly—socially, emotionally, physically, and academically. The goal of our lesson plans for preschool is to provide structured yet engaging learning experiences that spark imagination, encourage problem-solving, and foster a lifelong love of learning.
