Description
Our Supporting Author’s Points lesson plan teaches students how to identify main points in text and their supporting statements. During this lesson, students are asked to work with a partner to read passages given by their teacher aloud, identify the main points and supporting statements of each passage, and tell how the statements support the main point. Students are also asked to work independently to read a main point and then identify which in a set of statements support that main point.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to describe how reasons support specific points the author makes in a text.
