Our Spelling Correctly – Grade 5 lesson plan teaches students how to become better at spelling and how to determine the correct spelling of words they don’t know. During this lesson, students are asked to work with a partner to take turns drawing lists of words out of a hat; one student reads a word from the list, the other student spells it, and then they switch until they’ve spelled all of the words. Students are also asked to look at a list of words and identify the incorrectly spelled words, which they then rewrite spelled correctly, demonstrating their ability to identify and correct misspelled words.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to spell grade appropriate words correctly, consulting references as needed.
