With our Character, Setting, Event Descriptions lesson plan, students learn how to identify and describe the main characters, setting, and events in a story.

Description

Our Character, Setting, Event Descriptions lesson plan teaches students all about character, theme, setting, events, and more in stories and how to identify and describe these elements. During this lesson, students are asked to use their creativity to come up with a story and then describe the main character, the setting, and the plot of the story as descriptively as possible and then write a short story based on another student’s descriptions. Students are also asked to read a story and describe the main characters, setting, and theme of the story, demonstrating their ability to recognize these elements in other people’s writing.

At the end of the lesson, students will be able to identify the narrative elements in a story, differentiate between plot and theme in a story, describe in detail the narrative elements in a story, and compose written responses to questions describing story elements.
