Description
Our Spelling New Words lesson plan teaches students strategies for learning how to spell new words phonetically. During this lesson, students are asked to work with a partner to take turns picking new words out of a hat, reading them aloud, and having the other person spell them phonetically. Students are also asked to read words and identify the word with the same spelled sound in a list of given words.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to spell untaught words phonetically, drawing on phonemic awareness and spelling conventions.
