Description
Our Short Vowel Spelling Patterns II lesson plan introduces students to the common short vowel spelling patterns -op, -up, -ip, and -ap. Knowing these spelling rules and patterns will allow them to decode and build words of greater complexity, making them more successful as readers and writers. During this lesson, students are asked to write sentences using given spelling words, demonstrating their understanding of the lesson vocabulary. Students are also asked to sort their spelling words into the spelling patterns listed above.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to correctly identify and use the vcv pattern with short vowel families to spell words. Students will also be able to synthesize knowledge from the word sort in order to correctly spell transfer (bonus)words.
