Description
Our Informational Text lesson plan introduces students to non-fictional text. Several text features are defined in the lesson, such as index and glossary. The lesson also provides several questions students should keep in mind as they read the non-fiction text so they can become familiar with finding information in the text rather than just reading for pleasure. Finally, the lesson provides several tips for being an active reader and getting the most out of informational text. During this lesson, students are asked to complete several activities to test their understanding of the lesson material, including matching information to the correct text feature, identifying the strategy used in different situations, and answering questions about a passage.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to apply informational text features and appropriately comprehend informational texts, including history/social studies, science, and others.
