Description
What our Alphabet: Letter T lesson plan includes
Lesson Objectives and Overview: Alphabet: Letter T teaches young learners about the twentieth letter of the alphabet. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to recognize the uppercase and lowercase letter T and name at least two words that begin with T. This lesson is for students in preschool.
T-SHIRT Ts ACTIVITY
For this activity, students will create their own T t-shirts that mimic the ones they used during the lesson for the clothesline. They can trace the letter outline and then choose a T word (such as turkey, tape, tambourine, etc.) to put in the middle of their shirts.
Options and Extensions
There are a couple additional options you could do to add to the lesson. One is to ask students to bring a stuffed animal to school that begins with a T. They can bring an item like a teddy bear, tiger, turtle, T-rex, turkey, toad, etc. Have them show what they brought to the class. They can use the animal to help them learn the letter T. One other idea is to play the song “A Tooty Ta” and let students dance and sing along.
As an extension to the lesson, read It’s A Tiger! by David LaRochelle and Mr. Tiger Goes Wild by Peter Brown.
ADDITIONAL RESOURCES
Our preschool lessons include additional resources that you can use throughout the lesson. They are provided to give you as much content as possible to complete the lesson without their having to find sources on their own. For instance, if the lesson requires you to show students pictures, you can use the ones in the additional resources.
Preschool Philosophy
Our preschool curriculum is thoughtfully designed by professional teachers to nurture curiosity, build foundational skills, and prepare young learners for kindergarten and beyond. Each preschool lesson plan offers age-appropriate activities to promote early literacy, math readiness, creativity, and social-emotional growth.
At the preschool level, children are developing rapidly—socially, emotionally, physically, and academically. The goal of our lesson plans for preschool is to provide structured yet engaging learning experiences that spark imagination, encourage problem-solving, and foster a lifelong love of learning.
