Description

What our Alphabet: Letter B lesson plan includes

Lesson Objectives and Overview: Alphabet: Letter B teaches young learners about the second letter of the alphabet. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to recognize the uppercase and lowercase letter B and name at least two words that begin with B. This lesson is for students in preschool.

BUTTON Bs ACTIVITY

For the activity, you will provide children with large outlines of an uppercase and lowercase letter B. Give them a pile of buttons or other small, round objects. Help them glue the buttons along the lines of the B and b. Display finished pictures on the wall to review during the week.

Options and Extensions

One option is to blow up a big beach ball and have the students lightly toss the ball to another student. The student who catches the ball says a word that begins with B before tossing it to another student. Another option is to fill a large bin or tub with dry beans to create a B sensory bin. Fill with small toys or objects that begin with the letter B, such as a small ball, button, block, toy bear, or boat, and let students dig, scoop, and explore while naming items that start with B. As an extension to the lesson, read The Sleepy Little Alphabet: A Bedtime Story from Alphabet Town by Judy Sierra.

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES

Our preschool lessons include additional resources that you can use throughout the lesson. They are provided to give you as much content as possible to complete the lesson without their having to find sources on their own. For instance, if the lesson requires you to show students pictures, you can use the ones in the additional resources.
