Description
What our Weekdays: Monday lesson plan includes
Lesson Objectives and Overview: Weekdays: Monday teaches young learners about the second day of the week. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to recognize the word Monday and identify it on a weekly calendar. This lesson is for students in preschool.
MONDAY BOOK PAGE ACTIVITY
For the activity, students will make the second page for their Days of the Week book. Help students brainstorm what they can draw and pass out papers. While students are drawing, go around and write what they do on Monday on their papers. Students can also color in the apple. For added fun, have a variety of stickers available for students to add to their drawing. For example, soccer ball stickers for soccer practice or book stickers to represent going to school or the library. Collect papers and save for the interactive Days of the Week book.
CATERPILLAR SERIES ACTIVITY
Students can create a caterpillar to attach to their Days of the Week books. The instructions are at the end of the classroom procedure.
Options and Extensions
Laminate the Monday apple labels and hide them in sand or beans for a sensory experience, or spray the cards with shaving cream and let students trace the letters underneath. Another option is to print the Monday labels from Additional Resources and give them to students to rainbow write. (Rainbow write is where students trace the letters using different colors until they form a word rainbow.)
As an extension to the lesson, read the following books:
- Cookie’s Week by Cindy Ward
- Today Is Monday by Eric Carle
- Seven Blind Mice by Ed Young
ADDITIONAL RESOURCES
Our preschool lessons include additional resources that you can use throughout the lesson. They are provided to give you as much content as possible to complete the lesson without having to find sources on their own. For instance, if the lesson requires you to show students pictures, you can use the ones in the additional resources.
Preschool Philosophy
Our preschool curriculum is thoughtfully designed by professional teachers to nurture curiosity, build foundational skills, and prepare young learners for kindergarten and beyond. Each preschool lesson plan offers age-appropriate activities to promote early literacy, math readiness, creativity, and social-emotional growth.
At the preschool level, children are developing rapidly—socially, emotionally, physically, and academically. The goal of our lesson plans for preschool is to provide structured yet engaging learning experiences that spark imagination, encourage problem-solving, and foster a lifelong love of learning.

Our curriculum focuses on key objectives such as:
