Description
Our Writing Resolutions – Grades 4-6 lesson plan helps students write resolutions for narrative text, whether personal or fictional stories. Students can often begin a story, include effective details and other information, but have difficulty concluding or ending their stories. The lesson also identifies several types of resolutions students could use for their writing, as well as identify the types when reading other content. During this lesson, students are asked to work collaboratively to come up with alternate resolutions for stories that they already know, allowing them to practice writing just the resolution of a story; they then share them with the class, utilizing their public speaking skills. Students are also asked to match the description with the correct type of resolution.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to provide an effective conclusion based on narrative experiences and events.
