Description

Our Printing Press lesson plan introduces students to the invention of the printing press and its inventor, Johann Gutenberg. It is often known as one of the most important and revolutionary inventions in history, and without it, printed books, magazines, and newspapers would not have been possible. With new technology, computers, smartphones, etc., the students may be unaware of how important the printing press was to society upon its invention and development. During this lesson, students are asked to use their creativity and work with a partner to come up with a new design for a printing press, including step-by-step instructions about how it would work. Students are also asked to match terms to their definitions, demonstrating their understanding of the lesson vocabulary.

At the end of the lesson, students will be able to define and identify the original printing press, describe how it worked, name the inventor, and explain its impact and influence on society.
