Our Identify Mammals, Birds, Fish, Reptiles, Amphibians lesson plan teaches students how to properly identify different animal groups according to their characteristics. During this lesson, students are asked to match characteristics to the correct animal group, such as “covered in feathers,” and “lay rubbery eggs,” to demonstrate that they know the key differences between different animal groups. Students are also asked to look at a list of animals and tell whether each is a mammal, fish, bird, reptile, or amphibian.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to identify Mammals, Birds, Fish, Reptiles, and Amphibians; compare and contrast the differences and give examples of each animal type.
