Our Reading Poetry and Prose lesson plan teaches students about the differences in poetry and prose and teaches them how to write both. During this lesson, students are asked to read two example texts and identify which example is poetry and which is prose; they then complete a chart to identify similarities and differences between the examples. Students are also asked to choose a topic and write about it in both poetry and prose, demonstrating their understanding of the lesson material as well as their writing skills.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to read and write both prose and poetry and will be able to explain major differences between prose and poetry.
