Our Read with Accuracy and Fluency lesson plan teaches students how to read more accurately and fluently, as well as how to identify areas in which their reading could be improved. During this lesson, students are asked to work collaboratively with a partner to take turns reading passages aloud and then rating their partner on a scale from 1 to 5 on various things, such as “Did not eliminate words or word endings” and “Avoided being too overly dramatic while reading”. Students are also asked to read a passage and circle words they don’t know or recognize; they then write about how not knowing those words affected their reading and reading comprehension.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to read with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension.
