Our Describing Settings and Events lesson plan teaches students how to better describe both settings and events in their writing. During this lesson, students are asked to work collaboratively with a partner to read a provided story, identify setting and event descriptions, and describe how each affects or influences the story. Students are also asked to read details and decide whether each is more likely related to a setting or event.

At the end of the lesson, students will be able to describe in depth a setting or event in a story or drama, drawing on specific details in the text.
