Description
Our Letter Sounds, Patterns, and More lesson plan teaches students how to use morphemes and word structure to ensure correct word choice in their writing. During this lesson, students are asked to complete a chart in which they have to make given words into nouns and verbs, such as “heat,” which becomes “heater” and “preheat”. Students are also asked to read a passage, identify all of the words that are used incorrectly in the passage, and then rewrite it correctly.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to use their knowledge of morphemes and word structure to decode unfamiliar multisyllabic words in context and will be able to apply this knowledge as a reading comprehension strategy.
