Description
Our Variable Equations to Represent Word Problems lesson plan teaches students how to use variable equations to solve word problems. During this lesson, students are asked to write and solve their own real-world variable equations from 4 different situations (home, school, with friends, and at a job). Students are also asked to solve practice problems in which they write a variable equation for each word problem and then solve, demonstrating their understanding of the lesson material.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to use variables to represent numbers and write equations to solve mathematical or real-world problems.
