Surface Area

In our Surface Area lesson plan, students learn how to calculate the surface area of both cubes and rectangular prisms. Students practice calculating the surface area of both shapes and solve related word problems.

Our Surface Area lesson plan guides students in the application of formulas to calculate the surface area of cubes and rectangular prisms. Students are asked to complete a box measurement activity in which they identify each box as a rectangular prism or cube and find the surface area. Students are also asked to solve word problems involving surface area in order to demonstrate their understanding of the concepts in this lesson.

At the end of the lesson, students will be able to find the surface area of cubes and rectangular prisms.
