Our Rectangle Partition lesson plan teaches students how to split a rectangle into even rows and columns and how to count the total number of squares in the rows and columns. During this lesson, students are asked to complete an exercise with a partner in which they fold paper into same-size squares and then count the rows, columns, and total number of squares once they unfold it, allowing them to visualize how a rectangle can be divided into smaller, even parts. Students are also asked to match vocabulary words with their definitions, demonstrating their understanding of the lesson vocabulary.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to partition a rectangle into rows and columns of same-size squares and count to find the total number of them.
