Our Number Theory lesson plan introduces students to the number theory, a type of math that focuses on the study of the properties of numbers. Some of the properties covered in the lesson are odd and even, whole number, prime numbers, and multiples. During this lesson, students are asked to participate in an interactive activity in which they have to figure out what number the teacher is thinking of between 1 and 100 using 20 yes or no questions; this encourages students to use number theory to eliminate groups of numbers (by asking things like “is it an even number?”) and find the answer. Students are also asked to identify prime numbers, multiples of 10, even and odd numbers, and whole numbers, demonstrating their understanding of the lesson material and vocabulary.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to understand number theory using prime, odd and even, whole numbers, multiples, and fractions.
