Description
Our Multiply One-Digit Numbers by 10 lesson plan explains three different methods that can be used to multiply single-digit numbers by ten. The strategies are modeling, repeated addition and the zero trick. Each strategy is presented with examples for the teacher to demonstrate for students. During this lesson, students are asked to complete an interactive activity using a deck of cards where they generate random numbers using the cards and then solve problems using those numbers and any strategy they’d like. Students are also asked to individually complete practice problems using specific strategies in order to demonstrate their understanding of the lesson.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to multiply one-digit whole numbers by multiples of ten from 10 to 90.
