Our Mental Math 10 More or Less lesson plan engages concept imagery and leverages sensory stimulation to develop mental math skills in young students. Reinforcing vocabulary, identifying the mental math strategy for adding or subtracting 10, and providing ample practice problems anchors the concept of mental math as an efficient strategy and allows students to develop comfort and skill using mental math. Students are asked to complete practice problems on their own in order to demonstrate their understanding of the lesson and practice their mental math skills.

At the end of the lesson, students will be able to mentally add and subtract 10 from a two-digit number.

This is helping my students increase their fluency in single digit addition. Also its helped them in adding double and triple digit addition too.

    Used specifically for struggling students.

The overall experience when using Mental Math 10 More of Less was fantastic! I used this lesson with second grade students who were struggling with this concept. This was a great tool to help students visually see 10 More - 10 Less on a hundreds chart.
