Description
Our Introduction to Fractions lesson plan teaches students the basics about fractions, including what they are and how they are used in mathematics. During this lesson, students are asked to work with a partner to match the fractions with their equivalent in words (i.e., “(1/2)” and “one half”) and then create a poster showing the matching pairs. Students are also asked to answer questions about fractions, such as “What is the name for the top number of a fraction?”, demonstrating their understanding of the lesson vocabulary.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to develop a basic understanding of fractions and explain and demonstrate how a whole is partitioned into equal parts.
