Our Interpret Fractions as Division lesson plan teaches students how to understand fractions as a division problem. During this lesson, students are asked to work collaboratively with a partner to create a poster outlining the process and steps for changing an improper fraction to a mixed number or whole number, including illustrations and written instructions. Students are also asked to complete practice problems, demonstrating their understanding of the lesson material.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to interpret a fraction as division of the numerator by the denominator and solve problems dividing the numerator by the denominator.
