Our Fractions – Add and Subtract Unlike Denominators lesson plan teaches students how to find the lowest common denominator to add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators. Students also learn lesson vocabulary like LCM and LCD.

Our Fractions – Add and Subtract Unlike Denominators lesson plan teaches students how to find the lowest common denominator to add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators. Students will expand their vocabulary with terms like LCM and LCD. Leveraging creativity and art, students are engaged in cooperative action to draw a representation of correct answers. Introducing the ability to compute mentally challenges students and solidifies understanding. Students are also asked to demonstrate their understanding of these concepts through practice problems.

At the end of the lesson, students will able to find the lowest common denominator, and add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators.
