Our Dot Plots lesson plan introduces students to dot plots, a graphical representation of data using dots where the data is plotted on a number line using a scale of your choice. Students are asked to collect data from classmates about things like their favorite pet and favorite color, and then, using their creativity and collaborative learning skills, create dot plots for the collected data with a group of other students. Students are also asked to complete practice problems on their own in order to demonstrate their understanding of the lesson.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to construct dot plots and interpret the data presented in the dot plot.
