Description
Our Comparing Whole Numbers Lesson Plan develops number awareness as students compare whole numbers. This lesson includes activities with experiential practice for using the correct symbols when comparing whole numbers. Students are asked to work collaboratively on an activity in which they cut out numbers and symbols used to compare numbers (>, <, =) and use them to compare their numbers to their partner’s numbers. Students are also asked to write out sentences comparing two numbers, use symbols to compare numbers and answer questions about comparing whole numbers.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to use the correct symbols to compare whole numbers.
