Verb Tenses

In our Verb Tenses lesson plan for grades 4-6, students learn more advanced verb tenses, such as progressive verbs and perfect verb tenses. They will learn to identify these when reading and to use them correctly in their writing.

Our Verb Tenses lesson plan for grades 4-6 reviews the basics of verb tenses and introduces students to progressive verb tenses, form and use of perfect verb tenses, and the use of the correct verb tenses to convey various times, sequences, states, and conditions. Many students, as well as adults, often use the incorrect verb tense when speaking and writing. During this lesson, students are asked to write as many sentences as possible using a given list of verbs of different types. Students are also asked to match sentences to the verb tense used in the sentence in order to demonstrate their understanding.

At the end of the lesson, students will be able to identify and correctly use verb tenses, including progressive verbs, forms of perfect verb tenses, and the use of the correct verb tenses to convey various times, sequences, states, and conditions.
