Description
Our Support with Facts/Details lesson plan teaches students strategies for coming up with supporting facts and details for opinions. During this lesson, students are asked to work collaboratively with a partner to write an introductory paragraph about a given issue, stating a shared opinion; they then write a second paragraph that supports the reasons for their opinion using supportive facts and details. Students are also asked to write supporting facts and details for a list of opinions, such as “listening to music while doing homework is okay because it helps students focus”.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to provide reasons for opinions and support those reasons by facts and details as part of a written essay.
