Description
Our Probe/Reflect Discussion Ideas lesson plan teaches students strategies for asking effective questions during discussions. During this lesson, students are asked to work collaboratively with a group of other students to research an assigned topic for 15 minutes and prepare for a 20-minute discussion, during which they try to use some provided probing questions. Students are also asked to read a pre-written discussion and add in helpful questions at key moments, demonstrating that they can come up with relevant questions at key points in a debate.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to read and study materials as preparation and planning for discussions, draw on the preparations by referring to evidence, and to probe and reflect upon ideas under discussion.
