Description

Our Memoirs and Biographies lesson plan explores the differences between memoirs, biographies, and autobiographies. Students will be asked to define, distinguish and identify the differences between each. This lesson also exposes students to the difference between authorized and unauthorized writings about a person. By using their creative writing skills to write an example and sharing it with the class, students engage with each type of genre to solidify their understanding.

At the end of the lesson students will be able to define memoir, biography, and autobiography, distinguish and identify the differences between each, and write a brief example of each genre.

    Memoirs lesson awesome!

We homeschool our only child thus we had to adapt the lesson to our situation. However, it was easily adaptable. The links to videos were great and the lesson was easy to use. I would highly recommend it for others to use to show the differences between memoirs, biographies, and autobiographies to middle school students!
