Description
Our Linking Ideas lesson plan teaches students about how to link or connect ideas in writing, both with transitional words and phrases and structurally. During this lesson, students are asked to work collaboratively with a partner to break a block of text into paragraphs at points that make sense, demonstrating their ability to separate ideas and format writing in a way that is easy to read and understand. Students are also asked to practice rewriting pairs of sentences as a single sentence using a specific linking word, such as “although” or “while”.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to recognize and know linking words and linking phrases, understand sentences and paragraphs have transitions that are linked and related to the overall topic, and identify categories of information and separate the information into similar ideas.
