Recounting-Describing Details

$1.95

With our Recounting-Describing Details lesson plan, students learn strategies for recounting the details of a passage after hearing the passage read aloud.

Description

Our Recounting-Describing Details lesson plan teaches students how to recall the details of a passage they heard read aloud. During this lesson, students are asked to work collaboratively with a partner; partner 1 reads passage 1, partner 2 reads passage 2, and then both students summarize the passage that is read by their partner. Each student then describes the ideas and details of the passage, demonstrating their ability to recount the details of their partner’s passage from memory, using the strategies taught in this lesson. Students are also asked to listen as a parent reads a passage aloud and then fill in a chart about the passage, which includes questions such as “What was the name/topic of the article/passage?” and “On a scale of 1 to 10, how well did the child recall the ideas of the article/passage?”.

At the end of the lesson, students will be able to recount or describe key ideas or details from a text read aloud or information presented orally or through other media.
